Jeff Healey Loses Lengthy Battle with Cancer

TORONTO/AM640 TORONTO - Rock, blues and jazz guitarist and singer Jeff Healey has died at the age of 41.

He passed away at a Toronto hospital Sunday after a long struggle with cancer. It was a rare form of cancer that took his eyesight as an infant, and he battled recurrences of the disease off and on for years.

“I think the one thing that his friends will miss is his sense of humour” Healey’s Publicist Richard Flohil told AM 640 Toronto Radio. “He was an innovative, surprising, inventive and brilliant guitar player” said Flohil.

Healey was the front man for The Jeff Healey Band which sold over one million albums in the United States. His death comes only weeks before the release of his first rock album in eight years.
