Jane Mayer of the New Yorker reports that the International Committee of the Red Cross has concluded the CIA's detention and interrogation methods is tantamount to torture. Sources told Mayer that the confidential Red Cross report also warned that U.S. officials responsible for the abusive treatment at the secret prisons may have committed "grave breaches" of the Geneva
Conventions, and may have violated the U.S. Torture Act. We talk to Mayer and Jameel Jaffer, director of the American Civil Liberties Union's National Security Program.

The longest and sharpest argument came over foreign policy and Senator Barack Obama's comments last week that he would be willing to attack areas in Pakistan with or without approval of the Pakistani government. Obama said "If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf will not act, we will." Obama came under attack from his Democratic rivals for his comments.
